Teach your dog how to balance a treat on his nose.
First make sure your dog knows the trick "Don't Touch". You will use that command as part of this trick.
STEP 1. Before placing the treat anywhere, gently hold your dog's muzzle.
STEP 2. Balance the treat on your dog's nose and command "Don't Touch".
STEP 3. Slowly remove your hand, but don't go too far at first. You'll want to be able to stop your dog if he
tries to get the treat early.
STEP 4. For the first few tries, count to 2 seconds in your head then give the command "Okay, Take It!" As
your dog gets better and more dependable, you can extend the time.
(Give extra praise if your dog catches the treat in his mouth. That is the desired end result.)
